THIBODAUX, LA (WAFB) - The Thibodaux Police Department has arrested a man they say beat and stabbed a woman and held her against her will.
According to police, the incident happened just before 11 p.m on Tuesday in the 100 block of Sugar Cane Way.
Police say the suspect, 28-year-old Jeremy Aizen struck, choked and stabbed the victim at the residence. He then broke he and the victim's phones so she could not contact police and refused to let her leave.
After several hours, Aizen took a large dosage of medicine and went to lay down. That is when the victim was able to grab their child and and run to a nearby home to call police.
Police say when they arrived, Aizen attempted to barricade himself inside the home, but police were able to make their way inside and arrest him.
Aizen is currently being held at the Thibodaux Regional Medical Center for psychiatric observation and treatment.
Once released, Aizen will be booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he will be charged with domestic abuse battery involving strangulation, domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, false imprisonment and resisting arrest.
