Hannan rallies past St John, 35-23

PLAQUEMINE, LA (WAFB) - St John of Plaquemine lost senior star Gavin Landry at halftime to a concussion, and eventually lost Thursday night's game in the second half to Archbishop Hannan, 35-23.

Landry scored all the Eagles' first half points on a touchdown, two-point conversion and field goal, but Timothy McDonald's touchdown pass to Payton Hudson staked Hannan (6-3) to a 14-11 lead at the break.

When Landry urged his teammates to fight hard without him after being sidelined, quarterback Clay Payne responded with a touchdown keeper to give St John (4-5) the lead 17-14 in the third quarter.

However, two McDonald scoring strikes to Justin Wendt later in the quarter gave the Hawks their winning points, reclaiming the lead 28-17.
