Former LSU baseball star named a Gold Glove Award finalist

DENVER, CO (WAFB) -

Former LSU baseball star and current Colorado Rockies second baseman DJ LeMahieu has been named a 2015 Rawlings Gold Glove Award Finalist.

The Rockies All-Star second baseman played 1,284 innings this year and had only nine errors in 452 attempts. He was also involved in turning 120 double plays for Colorado. LeMahieu hit .301 on the season with 21 doubles, five triples and six home runs.

LeMahieu played for LSU in 2008 and 2009. As a freshman, he batted .337 with 11 doubles, one triple and six homers. He had 44 RBI and 10 steals. In his sophomore year, he hit .350 with 13 doubles, five triples, 43 RBI and 57 runs. 

LeMahieu was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in second round of the 2009 draft and was traded to the Rockies in 2011.
