BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A new roadway that will hopefully ease some congestion around Baton Rouge is now open to traffic.
Mayor Kip Holden, along with other city leaders, cut the ribbon Thursday morning to open the second phase of the Stumberg Lane extension project.
This phase connects the roundabout at Women's Hospital to Jefferson Highway. Leaders hope the new road will make commuting around the area easier for everyone.
"From the consumer standpoint, our citizens, to the professional standpoint, Women's Hospital, all come together and say, 'Boy, you know what? They're not just standing around and doing nothing, they're taking these problems head on and they're making a difference,'" Holden said.
This phase of the project took just about a year and a half to complete.
