PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Department continues to investigate a hit and run crash that left a man dead on Saturday, October 24.

Daniel LaFleur, 67, spoke to voters at Prairieville Primary on his bike ride home on the day of the crash. He was planning to join his family at the LSU stadium for Tiger tailgating that afternoon.

LaFleur was found on the shoulder of Parker Road near the entrance of the Meadowview subdivision. He had been struck by a vehicle.

LaFleur's son and daughter describe him as a man who lived life to the fullest. He had recently retired from carpentry and had full intentions of taking to the high seas off the coast of Florida on his sailboat.

Deputies believe that the suspect's vehicle should have some kind of damage to the right front side area.

Officials are asking anyone traveling in the area between 6:40 a.m. and 7:10 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, to call 225-621-4636.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office by phone at 225-621-INFO, by text at 847411 or call Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP.
