BRPD names suspect in October 1 murder

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Police Department has released the name of a suspect in the murder of a man on October 1.

Police say they have issued an arrest warrant for 18-year-old Tyler Pointer for his connection in the murder of 24-year-old Monquel Yates.

Yates was found shot to death just after 11:30 p.m. in the 3600 block of Osceola Street.

Police were responding to a shot spotter call when they discovered and unoccupied parked vehicle with shattered glass and blood inside. Police then followed the blood trail and found Yates.

When arrested, Pointer will be charged with 2nd degree murder.
