Deputies rescue 20 elementary students stranded inside bus on flooded bridge

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

EBRSO Uniform Patrol Deputies and Maritime Response Team rescued 20 children Monday morning after their school bus became stranded on a flooded bridge.

The students were headed to Northeast Elementary around 8:20 a.m. in the 20000 block of Carson.

No injuries were reported.

EBRSO reminds residents to please not attempt to drive through high water.

    Rescue and recovery efforts continued through the night into the morning in Italy following the collapse of a highway bridge in Genoa, while authorities raised the death toll to 35 with three missing.
