UPDATE: Missing 8-year-old found safe in Ouachita Parish, abductor still missing

RUSTON, LA (WAFB) -

UPDATE: Investigators with the Ruston Police Department confirm that Dakota Knox, 8, was found safe in Ouachita Parish. Authorities are still searching for the child's suspected abductor, 23-year-old Sommer Ann Hattaway.

Anyone with information on Hattaway's whereabouts should call the Ruston Police Department at 318-225-4141.


Louisiana State Police have issued and Amber Alert for a child who is believed to have been abducted in Ruston Sunday morning. 

State Police are searching for 8-year-old Dakota Knox who was last seen just before 7:30 a.m. sleeping in the back of a vehicle at the Lincoln Motel in Ruston.

State Police say they suspect the vehicle was stolen by 23-year-old Sommer Ann Hattaway. The vehicle is a black 2000 Mercury Mountaineer with Louisiana license plate ZAW146. 

Knox is believed to be in imminent danger. He is described as a white male child, 4 feet tall and weighs 70 pounds with sandy hair and blue eyes. Knox was last seen wearing an orange shirt, yellow shorts and a yellow jacket.

Hattaway is described as a white female, 5'2" and weighs 115 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
