BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Greater Baton Rouge State Fair opens to the public Thursday evening.
The gates open at 5 p.m. and close at 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, the fair opens at noon.
You can enjoy all the fried food, rides and entertainment through November 1 at the fairgrounds on Airline Highway.
The event's chairman, Cliff Barton, promises a fun and safe experience.
"We have security at the gates, as always, to make sure that everything goes smoothly," Barton said. "This is a family event. We have people who are bringing their children and grandchildren and they tell us they came to the fair as children and keeping tradition going. It's great."
This year's new attraction is The Human Fuse. Brian Miser flies through the air at 65 miles an hour on fire in the arena.
He's been featured on national television on Conan O'Brian and David Letterman.
