WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA (WAFB) - A Port Allen man accused of trying to hire someone to kill two people in Pointe Coupee Parish pleaded guilty Monday in a West Baton Rouge courtroom.
Tommy Gioele pleaded guilty as charged to two counts of solicitation for murder. The incident dates back to Dec. 14, 2014 in Erwinville.
One count was against Manuel Persicka and another against Persicka's wife Camille Persicka.
Prosecutor Tony Clayton said he had proof that Gioele had hits out to get both husband and wife killed for allegedly a bad business deal years ago. Clayton added Gioele shocked the entire courtroom when he said he was giving the hitman one more night to kill the two and if he couldn't do it, "he was going to call off the hit the next day."
The Persickas live in Lottie in Pointe Coupee Parish and were not present for Monday's court hearing.
Gioele was sentenced to 20 years with 10 years suspended. After he is released from prison, he will be on five years of supervised probation with a monitor.
