20 significant grass fires hit Louisiana after burn ban, Fire Marshal says

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Louisiana Fire Marshal Butch Browning says that the burn ban should be taken seriously, as evidenced by 20 grass fires across the state.

Browning says that some of those fires were sparked by some who did not obey the ban. No injuries or buildings were burned in the grass fires, but five people were fined, according to the Fire Marshal.

Browning’s word of warning serves as a reminder to be careful around flames, as Baton Rouge citizens saw three fires over the weekend that damaged cars, trees, and buildings.
