BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Sunday afternoon house fire on Elwick Drive did an estimated $140,000 in damage, according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
Units first arrived to the fire at 12:30, and had the fire under control in less than 15 minutes.
BRFD representatives say that the fire was caused by combustible products being placed too close to a hot water heater. A resident inside the house told investigators that she noticed heavy smoke under the carport. The BRFD says the fire started in an outside storage room and spread into the attic. The attic, carport, and two cars received heavy fire damage.
No one was injured in the incident.
