Debit card service ending for unemployment benefits, claimants urged to transfer to direct-deposit

Louisiana residents who receive unemployment benefits are being urged to change their method of payment before October 27.

JPMorgan Chase, which provided the unemployment debit card service is discontinuing their service, leaving direct-deposit and mailed paper checks as the only delivery options.

People who received benefits on the cards will still be able to use their balance, but will not have any new money added past October 27.

The Louisiana Workforce Commission is urging those receiving benefits to switch to direct-deposit in order to keep themselves protected. Those who do not switch over will receive paper checks mailed to the address on file with the commission, which could result in benefit delays.

Those looking to update their banking preferences in order to switch to direct-deposit can do so HERE.
