Leaders recognize 'White Cane Day'

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - People in downtown Baton Rouge may come across some leaders walking around with white canes Wednesday.

"White Cane Day" was held to raise awareness for the visually impaired.

Many people who are visually impaired can already find their way around, but the experts encourage you to help someone who uses a cane and appears to be in distress.

Mayor Kip Holden and US Sen. Bill Cassidy were both on hand for the event.
