BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Another status hearing is set for the man accused of killing a woman and seriously wounding her young daughter more than five years ago.
The district attorney's office reported prosecutors turned over documents to defense attorneys for Aramis Jackson, 25, of Baton Rouge, and his next status hearing is scheduled for November 9.
Jackson is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Alexandra Engler, 42, and attempted murder of her daughter, Ariana, who was 9 years old at the time.
The little girl was also shot and suffered serious wounds in the attack.
Engler was shot to death inside her Beauregard Town home in September 2010.
According to the district attorney's office, DNA evidence links Jackson to the scene of the crime. Prosecutors said they plan to push for the death penalty.
