BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to a fire on Alliquipa Street Tuesday morning.
Firefighters responded to a call just before 5:30 a.m. in the 4400 block of Alliquipa St.
When firefighters arrived they found the rear room of the home engulfed in flames.
The fire spread to the kitchen before firefighters managed to get the fire under control shortly after arriving. The rest of the home received smoke damage.
Firefighters say there were residents at home at the time of the fire. They were awakened by the smoke and flames and immediately exited the home without injury.
Investigators believe that the fire was caused by a faulty electrical outlet in the home.
