GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - The mother of 18-year-old Todd Toups Jr. has set up a fundraiser to help pay for funeral expenses after her son died in a stabbing on Saturday.
Toups' mother says her son just came from the funeral of his grandfather earlier on Saturday and was picking up his date for the homecoming dance at Cobb's Trailer Park on Roddy Road in Gonzales at about 4:00 p.m. when he allegedly got into an altercation with the 16-year-old suspect that resulted in Toups' stabbing.
The 16-year-old juvenile suspect was charged with second-degree murder and was transported to Assumption Youth Detention Center with no bond.
The fundraiser has a set goal of $19,000. The donation page can be found HERE.
