Man arrested, accused of hitting, killing bicyclist

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Police Department has arrested a man they say hit and killed a bicyclist early Sunday morning.

Police say the accident happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 6500 block of Plank Road.

According to police, a 45-year-old male was riding his bicycle northbound on the shoulder of Plank Rd. when a 1996 Toyota T100 that was also traveling northbound left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck him.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The identity of the victim will be released pending family notification.

The driver, 39-year-old Eric Glover, was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide, DWI, reckless operation and suspended drivers license.

The crash remains under investigation.
