BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A project that is expected to breathe new life into the Mid-City area of Baton Rouge is gaining steam.
The East Baton Rouge Redevelopment Authority (RDA) is getting the six-acre site of the old Entergy building on Government Street ready for transformation.
The group officially hired a firm out of Portland, Oregon to consult on the project. Fregonese Associates is the same firm that created East Baton Rouge Parish's master plan.
Entergy donated the industrial site to the RDA in 2014. The site is expected to turn into a mix of retail, residences, restaurants and possibly even a train station.
The RDA board should have a developer lined up by March and that developer is expected to begin the project sometime next year.
