THIBODAUX, LA (WAFB) - Officers with the Thibodaux Police Department say they found heroin and needles on a man asleep behind the wheel of his truck after it was reported he was blocking the roadway.
Ryan Kraemer, 41, of Thibodaux was arrested and charged with third offense DWI, possession of heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Friday, October 2nd, at approximately 5:25 p.m. a witness reported that a white 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was stopped at a stop sign on Tupelo Street partially blocking Hickory Street. The driver, Ryan Kraemer, was found to be sleeping behind the steering wheel with the vehicle on.
When Officers made contact with Kraemer, they report he appeared to be intoxicated. A standardized field sobriety test was conducted, which Kraemer performed poorly. Kraemer was placed under arrest.
Through further investigation, officers located heroin and hypodermic needles on Kraemer. Kraemer refused to blow into the intoxilyzer machine, so a warrant was obtained for a sample of his blood. The sample will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab to determine Kraemer's level of intoxication.
Kraemer is being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $36,000 bond.
