Sophomore running back Leonard Fournette was just 17 yards shy of the LSU rushing record, posting a third straight 200-yard game with 233 and three touchdowns. However, the Tigers still had trouble subduing Eastern Michigan in the 44-22 victory

A big focal point of Saturday night's game in Tiger Stadium was how many yards Heisman Trophy front runner Leonard Fournette might get against the nation's absolute worst rushing defense and whether he would finally break Alley Broussard's single game LSU record of 250 set back in 2004 against Ole Miss.

Fournette is the first SEC player in history to have three consecutive games with over 200 rushing yards. He ran 75 yards for a touchdown in the first play of the third quarter, which is his longest run of the season so far.

Sophomore quarterback Brandon Harris was 4 of 15 for 80 yards and rushed 21 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. Harris was intercepted near the end of the 2nd quarter, leading to a touchdown for Eastern Michigan, which scored two touchdowns in less than a minute to cut LSU's lead to three points.

LSU linebacker Deion Jones intercepted a throw by Eastern Michigan quarterback Brogan Roback and ran 26 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to make the final 44-22.

LSU still had several penalties with 7 for 70 yards, but improved from the 14 the Tigers had in the game against Syracuse.

The Tigers (4-0) were a 45-point favorite over the Eagles (1-4) who finished  2-10 four of the last five years and were 0-12 the year before.

LSU travels to Columbia to face South Carolina on October 10. Kickoff is set at 11 a.m. Central and the game will be televised on ESPN.
