BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - In the aftermath of the shooting massacre at an Oregon college, calls for campus security are ramping up in Louisiana.
State lawmakers are pushing for more safety research at all Louisiana colleges, both public and private.
Officials are now calling for more metal detector usage, as well as other safety measures.
"We're fortunate that we haven't seen a situation in the state of Louisiana whereby we've had the kind of catastrophe that we've seen in Oregon and in other places across the country," says state rep. Wesley Bishop. "But it only takes one time for that to happen."
Many high schools in Louisiana already require students to go through metal detectors.
