BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge woman was arrested after she allegedly stole a check from a 94-year-old woman.
28-year-old Shaklquilo Cage was arrested when she tried to use a check that the Baton Rouge Police Department says she stole from a 94-year-old woman. Cage reportedly was the victim's caretaker.
The victim contacted police when she saw a fraudulent charge for $271 on her bank statement. The check was made out to Cage's apartment complex as a rent payment.
After receiving a copy of the stolen check, authorities say that the victim "instantly knew" that her former caretaker stole the check, as Cage was the only person who had access to the victim's checks and lived at the apartment the stolen check was made out to.
The victim was able to pick Cage out of a lineup, which led to the suspect's arrest.
Cage was arrested on exploitation of the infirmed, forgery, and theft. Her bond was set at $13,000.
