A Denham Springs man was arrested after a four-car crash that left a 19-year-old dead in Livingston Parish on Friday afternoon.

Louisiana State Police arrested 58-year-old Michael Farris after he was driving northbound on LA 16. Investigators say that Farris crossed the center line into the southbound lane and side-swiped a vehicle driven by a 62-year-old man. Farris' vehicle continued traveling in the southbound lane, and hit 19-year-old Miranda Roberts' vehicle head on. The suspect's car also side-swiped a 29-year-old's car before it came to a halt.

Roberts was unrestrained at the time and died of her injuries from the crash. Farris was buckled in during the crash and received minor injuries. The two other drivers involved in the crash sustained minor injuries.

State police determined that Farris was impaired and arrested him for DWI.

Farris was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center for DWI, reckless operation, negligent homicide, and negligent injuring.

His bond was set at $51,878.
