BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man was arrested on Tuesday, accused of attempting to harm or kill an unborn child after beating the child's mother.
Kyle Lavergne, 18, was charged with attempted first degree feticide, simple battery, and simple criminal damage to property after assaulting a pregnant woman and throwing a brick at her car's windshield.
According to a probable cause report from the Baton Rouge Police, Lavergne was called to the victim's residence on September 21 to assist in a car repair for the victim. Police officials say Lavergne and the victim got into an argument that ended with the suspect allegedly punching the victim in the face. The victim fell to the floor, and Lavergne allegedly began to kick and stomp on the victim's stomach.
Detectives say that Lavergne shoved the victim's head into a wall several times with enough force to leave multiple holes in the wall. Lavergne then went outside, where he allegedly threw a brick into the windshield and window of the victim's car, according to Baton Rouge Police.
Lavergne was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. No bond has been set.
