Man suspected of selling high grade marijuana faces numerous charges

ST. MARTINVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

A suspected drug dealer was arrested at a home just down the street from a community college Tuesday morning.

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office reported David Odu, 35, of St. Martinville, was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the following charges:

  • Possession with the intent to distribute marijuana
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance (CDS) law in a school zone
  • Illegal use of a CDS in the presence of a juvenile
  • Active arrest warrant for drug court

No bond is set.

Maj. Ginny Higgins, spokeswoman for SMPSO, said narcotics agents and SERT members with the sheriff’s office executed a search warrant at a home on West Berard Street. The home is about a block away from South Louisiana Community College.

Agents reported finding high grade marijuana, along with materials used to package and distribute it.

The investigation is ongoing.
