LAFAYETTE, LA (WAFB) - A new project means the memory of a Lafayette theater shooting victim will live on forever.
Jillian Johnson's loved ones planted a "Victory Garden" in her honor near downtown Lafayette Sunday.
Johnson and Mayci Breaux were killed on July 23 when a gunman opened fire at the Grand 15 Theatre on Johnston Street.
The 33-year-old's dream was to build a garden so anyone could stop and pick fruits and vegetables on their way home from work.
Johnson's family was the first to plant pomegranates and blueberries. Work on the victory garden is expected to finish by March.
