BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A suspect in a stabbing on Maplewood Drive is dead, according to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office.

Anthony McKinney, 46, is dead after he was shot by deputies responding to a domestic dispute call at about 3:00 p.m. on Maplewood Drive.

First responders found McKinney armed with a knife, stabbing a woman at a residence on Maplewood Drive.. An EBRSO spokesperson says the responding deputy fired shots and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim is in critical condition at an area hospital.

McKinney was arrested on September 22 on domestic abuse battery with child endangerment and aggravated assault. EBRSO representatives say that McKinney had a long criminal record, and that he bonded out of EBR Parish Prison on September 25.
