VENICE, LA (WAFB) - The US Coast Guard said it flew a man from a fishing boat near Venice to a hospital after a call Thursday afternoon that he needed medical assistance.
Officials said the caller reported a 67-year-old man was having chest pain and was going in and out of consciousness.
The Coast Guard said a cutter was dispatched to the man's location about 30 miles northeast of Venice.
Officials added the man was transferred to the cutter, then a Coast Guard helicopter hoisted him up and flew him to the Memorial Hospital at Gulfport, Mississippi.
The man's condition is unknown. His name was not released.
