LIVINGSTON, LA (WAFB) -

Livingston Parish residents have a clearer picture of the future of their roads as the council made the final decision in what to do with a million dollar surplus.

The Livingston Parish Council voted on Sept. 3 that $750,000 in surplus money would go to fix roads and the other $250,000 would go to the Juban project. After a public meeting Thursday night, the council has agreed to stick with the current vote for the surplus money.

The council was initially at odds over what to do with the money. Some wanted to expand roads near Juban Crossing, while others wanted to earmark the money to fix existing roads.

The split allows for both resurface old roads as well as help fund the Juban Road extension, which is aimed at alleviating traffic.
