Livingston SPCA to hold Halloween costume event for dogs on Saturday

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Livingston SPCA will host a canine costume contest on Saturday

The contest, called Bow-Wow-Ween, will see costumed dogs of all shapes and sizes compete for prizes in three categories. Prizes will be awarded to first second and third places in the following categories: At the Movies, Anything Goes, and Crowd Favorite.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. on October 3 at the Denham Springs Train Station on East Railroad Avenue. The contest starts at 10:30 a.m. and will run to 11:00 a.m. The entry fee is $10 for the first entry, and $5 for each additional entry. All proceeds will go to the Livingston SPCA, helping them with their mission of finding suitable homes for rescued pets.

The Livingston SPCA asks that all dogs remain on their leash, and that owners not enter aggressive dogs, or dogs in heat in the contest. Costumes must be safe, cool, and comfortable for the contestants, and they must be up to date on their vaccinations.

Registration forms can be picked up at the Denham Springs Animal Hospital, Faithful Companions Pet Grooming in Walker, Circle A Hardware in Walker, and Melly's Clip n Dip in Denham Springs.

More information on the contest can be found on the SPCA of Livingston's Facebook page
