St. John Parish officials lift boil water advisory

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

A boil water advisory issued for St. John the Baptist Parish has been lifted for all customers in Water District No. 1.

Parish officials said the Louisiana Office of Public Health confirmed 14 samples taken from Reserve, Garyville, Mount Airy and Rosenwald in Water District No. 1 were negative. The advisory has been lifted for all 14 areas, including Regala Park Road from Power Boulevard to Airline Highway and West 10th Street from Power Boulevard to Airline Highway in Rosenwald. That area was still under a boil advisory until Thursday afternoon.

The St. John the Baptist Utilities Department took additional samples Wednesday afternoon for testing.

Crews worked Monday night to make necessary repairs to a main water line in Water District No. 1. The boil advisory was issued as a precaution after the water was turned back on Tuesday morning.

Officials recommend boiling water for a full minute in a clean container before drinking it, brushing teeth with it or using it to prepare food.
