PORT ALLEN, LA (WAFB) - U.S. Representative Garret Graves spoke Tuesday at the Rotary Club in Port Allen.
9News asked the Republican congressman why are there so many studies about traffic problems and no shovels to asphalt?
"The folks have been saying, we can't afford to do this, but I would argue, we can't afford not to," said Graves. "It is already strangling our economy in this region, we're already seeing economic development consequences of the traffic that's going to get worse, and cutting into the time that this is really causing us to waste in traffic that otherwise that could allow us to spend more time at work or with family."
Graves said it can't just be that. He said people have to do things now with organizing the bus system better so it doesn't run empty buses and organizing work shifts at major plants to relieve traffic volumes.
