OUR TURN: Commuter Train

. - Aired: Tuesday, 09/22/15

There's a lot to be said for knowing what you want and working to make your dream become a reality.

In that spirit, we applaud the leaders of South Louisiana, and especially those in the city of Gonzales for their determination to bring a high-speed commuter rail line to South Louisiana. The proposed commuter train would make the trip between Baton Rouge and New Orleans in an hour and 35 minutes, stopping at Gonzales, LaPlace and the New Orleans airport along the way. Leaders in Gonzales last week held a news conference to make sure all of our gubernatorial candidates are aware they've already purchased the land for the train station they hope will stop in their city.

They may be putting the caboose ahead of the locomotive, but you've got to admire their enthusiasm. That's "Our Turn." Now, it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, visit us on Facebook or send an email to yourturn@wafb.com.
