Law enforcement agencies in Capital area to get federal grant money

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Several departments in the Metro Baton Rouge area will receive federal grant money, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. 

The annual grant from the Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) is general funds that can be used for various law enforcement needs. 

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office will get $33,383, while the Baton Rouge Police Department will get $182,658. 

The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office was awarded $24,922, and Ascension Parish Sheriff's will receive $20,395 for body cams. 

Other agencies receiving grant money are the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office ($22,144), Hammond Police ($23,276) and Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office ($56,248).
