BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man found guilty of the second degree murder of his wife has been officially sentenced to life in prison.
Timothy Bazile shot and killed his wife, Kendra Bazile, 39, after an argument on June 15, 2010. It happened around 12:15 a.m.
Witnesses say the couple's son was at the home on Pamela Drive at the time of the shooting.
There are no criminal records showing Timothy Bazile, 41, had a history of domestic violence. But just after midnight that night, he and wife reportedly had a fight that led to gunshots. A neighbor says the couple's son ran to his house, saying his dad had shot his mom.
During the trial, Bazile claimed he had no memory of the shooting, but then told the jury he was afraid for his life because his son burst into the couple's bedroom with a gun. The son and Bazile's daughter both testified he was drunk when he came home that night.
Bazile told the jury "I got scared and just started shooting."
With a unanimous vote from the jury, Bazile was convicted of the murder on August 28, 2014.
