BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man in Ascension Parish was arrested on Saturday for failure to register as a sex offender.
30-year-old Gonzales man Brian Chadwick was arrested after detectives received a Crime Stoppers tip that said Chadwick was living in Ascension Parish. Narcotics detectives were sent to Chadwick's home on a tip that drugs were being sold out of his residence, but found that the suspect was not in possession of any drugs.
Chadwick was then notified by detectives that he needed to register as a sex offender, and he turned himself in after. Chadwick was convicted on sexual abuse battery charges in August 2006 in Virginia and had to register as a sex offender for 15 years.
APSO officials say that Chadwick has a lengthy criminal history with seven arrests stemming from drug charges.
Chadwick was arrested and charged with failure to register as a sex offender and probation violation. No bond has yet been set.
