BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A community group wants to dedicate a day to giving a moment of appreciation to local law enforcement.

National “Tell a Police Officer ‘Thank You’ Day” is Saturday, September 19. Organizers are asking citizens to thank EBRSO, BRPD, and other local officials for their work in the community.

The event was started by Chicago attorney Andrew Hale, and he says that people must show support for those who serve. “I know the difficult job these men and women undertake every day, and I think we often take our police officers for granted,” Hale says.

Area community groups, youth organizations, church groups, and others are encouraged to write “thank you” notes, and bring them to their nearest local law enforcement agency.

More information on how to get involved can be found at the organizer’s Facebook page HERE.
