Florida man indicted for embezzlement stemming from position in Gonzales-based company

GONZALES, LA (WAFB) -

A federal grand jury has indicted a Florida man with embezzling nearly $1 million in connection with his management of a Gonzales company.

William Ros, 45, was the former Chief Financial Officer of Fundamental Provisions, a Gonzales based company that operated 30 Popeyes’ Fried Chicken restaurants in Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida.

The indictment says that Ros was responsible for assuring money generated by the restaurants was used for his company’s benefit.

The indictment says that in 2009, Ros told an Alabama store manager to remove money from their cash registers and deliver the money to him personally, or via mail. He is accused of doing the same thing to another Alabama store manager in 2010.

“Corporate executives who engage in wrongdoing will find no safe haven in federal court,” said US Attorney Walt Green.

Ros faces wire fraud, embezzlement from a bankruptcy state, and money laundering charges.
