BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man who was on parole on a charge of attempted first-degree murder now faces several new counts of that same charge after allegedly firing shots into a crowd of people Tuesday evening.
Walter Williams, 33, was arrested Wednesday night. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on 10 counts of attempted first-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and felon in possession of a firearm.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reported the shooting happened on Iroquois Street near North Acadian Thruway West as a fight was happening.
It is believed Williams fired into a crowd of about 10 people. No one was injured.
A shooting in the same area around the same time left one man dead. Police said Williams is not connected to that shooting.
