Funeral services set for longtime Plaquemine mayor

PLAQUEMINE, LA (WAFB) - Funeral services have been set for longtime Plaquemine Mayor Mark A. "Tony" Gulotta.

Gulotta, who served as the mayor of Plaquemine for 22 years, died Friday morning of a massive heart attack at the age of 57.

Gulotta's body will lie in honor at Plaquemine City Hall for public visitation on Tuesday, September 15, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.

There will be another visitation Wednesday, September 16, at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow. Burial will take place at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Cemetery on Main Street in Plaquemine.

The Plaquemine Board of Selectmen will serve as honorary pallbearers for the services.

Gulotta is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Sue Varnell Gulotta, two sons and two grandchildren.
