CENTRAL, LA (WAFB) - East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a suspected murder/suicide in Central.
Deputies say they received a call about four men found laying in a driveway just after 12:30 a.m. in the 12700 block of Talmadge Crumholt Road.
When officers arrived, they found the bodies of the suspected gunman, 60-year-old Rodney Chemin, and three brothers, 57-year-old Joseph Allen, 55-year-old Perry Allen and 51-year-old Mark Allen. All four were pronounced dead at the scene.
"It just doesn't make sense. Totally out of character for something like this to happen," said neighbor Suzanne Wheeler.
Wheeler was shocked to learn the news, saying Chemin was a man with a warm heart.
"He cared about everybody. He would never hurt anybody," said Wheeler. "He was a good guy, real nice, always helpful."
According to reports, Chemin and the Allen brothers were at a neighbor's home earlier that night watching football and listening to music. The four men later got into an argument about the music and left the neighbor's home.
According to the neighbor, shots were heard approximately ten minutes later at Chemin's home. When he went to check the home, that is when he found the bodies of the four men.
"It's just unbelievable something like this took place," said neighbor Kendall Gerald. "A friend of mine was texting me wondering what was going on and we said we hadn't heard anything about it. We thought it might have been something on the highway up there on the edge of the road."
The shooting still remains under investigation.
