Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office to hold 'Pray for Law Enforcement' event

LIVINGSTON, LA (WAFB) -

After Governor Jindal announced Monday, September 14 as a statewide day of prayer for law enforcement, the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office will host their own prayer event.

LSPO Sheriff Jason Ard says that the event will take place at 5:15 p.m. on the front steps of the Livingston Parish Courthouse. Police chiefs from across the parish, their officers, and members of Louisiana State Police will attend the event.

"I feel fortunate 

to be the Sheriff in Livingston Parish where citizens are vocal about supporting law enforcement and praying for those who wear the badge," said Sheriff Ard.  "With this 30 minute gathering, I hope that we can show that members of our law enforcement and members of our community stand together, united, strong and committed to keeping Livingston Parish a place we're proud to call home."

Speakers at the event include Sheriff Ard, and a representative from a Livingston Parish police chiefs and local faith leaders.
