BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The new superintendent of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System is still trying new things, as evidenced by Thursday's "Lunch with Supe" event.
The event was sponsored by the Foundation for East Baton Rouge School System. The lunch was a casual way for students to discuss what the school system is doing and what it plans to do. Students and officials alike discussed high schools and what to do with the Istrouma High School building.
"It's been a year and a half they've been closed, but three years now as a part of the Recovery District," Superintendent Warren Drake said. "There's not a high school in the 70805 and Istrouma is an iconic school in Baton Rouge history, so it's important we get that school back and do something really dynamic there."
The lunch was held at Beausoleil on Jefferson Highway.
