BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators determined a fire at a vacant house early Thursday morning was the result of arson.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened on Howard Street near Thomas H. Delpit Drive just before 5 a.m.
Curt Monte with BRFD said the home was fully engulfed with flames when firefighters arrived on the scene.
He added the house is considered a total loss.
Neighbors said the tenant had just been evicted and vagrants had been living there. They added the landlord was getting the house ready to rent again.
According to witnesses, the initial flames were 20 to 30 feet in the air.
No injuries were reported.
