TERREBONNE PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said that during the month of April 2015 Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office deputies initially began conducting an investigation regarding molestation of a juvenile.
A deputy spoke with the mother of the female victim, who reported that her teenage daughter had been molested.
After the initial report was filed a TPSO detectives continued the investigation.
During the course of this investigation the suspect was identified as Murphy J. Melancon II. Detectives interviewed witnesses that provided information that supported the facts of this investigation.
TPSO detectives obtained arrest warrants on Melancon for molestation of a juvenile and aggravated crime against nature.
On Thursday, September 3, 2015, Murphy Joseph Melancon II, age-43, of Montegut, was arrested and booked into Terrebonne Parish Jail where he remains on a $300,000 bond.
In 2012, Melancon was charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile after he admitted to officials he was in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old. He was a Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Deputy at the time and was fired after he was arrested.
The 16-year-old girl was a runaway and was found by deputies and learned about the relationship with Melancon.
His bond in 2012 was $25,000.
