ROBERT, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana State Police reported the cyclist killed in a crash Monday night in Tangipahoa Parish has been identified.
Troopers said Ashley Thames, 35, of Robert, was rear-ended by an SUV while she was crossing the US 190 Tangipahoa River Bridge in Robert around 10:30 p.m.
Investigators reported the bicycle had no lamps or rear-facing reflectors. They added Thames was wearing dark clothing.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner's Office.
Troopers said they do not think the driver of the SUV was impaired at the time of the crash. The driver was not cited.
As they do with all deadly crashes on Louisiana highways, troopers collected blood samples from Thames and the driver.
The samples were sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
