BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators said a child playing with a lighter set a house on fire Tuesday afternoon.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened on Doolittle Drive just before 4 p.m. No injuries were reported.
Curt Monte with BRFD said a front bedroom was on fire when crews made it to the scene.
He added the flames spread to the hallway before firefighters were able to get the fire under control.
He also said there was heavy smoke damage throughout the home.
According to Monte, the child will be counseled and put in the Juvenile Fire Setters Program.
The Red Cross was called out to assist the family.
