PLAQUEMINE, LA (WAFB) - The man accused of stabbing a woman has been booked into the Iberville Parish Jail and the victim is listed in stable condition, according to Sheriff Brett Stassi.
Travis Howell, 31, was arrested in St. Landry Parish on Monday. He faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder. Bond has not been set.
Emergency officials were called out to Roucher's Meat Market in Plaquemine to assist a stabbing victim, but according to Stassi, the incident happened at a boat landing on Bayou Landing.
According to reports, a woman was driving down the road and saw what looked like a car crash, so she pulled over to see if anyone needed help. Authorities said that's when she found the victim near the vehicle.
Investigators said the woman called the sheriff's office and drove the victim to the meat market to meet up with a deputy. Other deputies drove to the scene where the victim was found, but the car was gone.
