BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU head coach Les Miles said sophomore quarterback Brandon Harris will be the starter in the season opener against McNeese State.
When asked Monday if Harris would be the starter, Miles replied, "Absolutely. You bet it, unless something happens in the back end of this week. Right now, it seems like Brandon will start."
Miles said Harris has done everything he's been asked to do and continues to improve.
Last year, Harris threw for 452 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Miles did not rule out playing Harris and Anthony Jennings.
"I'm not going to go into how we look at that. We feel like both quarterbacks can play. Both quarterbacks have improved. They continue to compete. I wouldn't hesitate if needed to play either one, extended or to sub," Miles added.
The Tigers will face the Cowboys on Saturday in Tiger Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised on the SEC Network Alternate Channel.
